Description
William Harrison Ainsworth was an historical novelist who wrote more than 40 novels between 1834 and 1881. He initially trained as a lawyer and then worked in publishing. He gave up both to become an author. He edited the literary magazine 'Bentley's Miscellany' and in 1842 he created 'Ainsworth's Magazine' which also published literary writings including his own.
