Description
There is little recorded information about Samuel Bevan. He was born in 1816 possibly in Wales and became an engineer of the rail roads. He sometimes wrote under the pseudonym Cavendish. His most notable work was 'Sand and Canvas: a Narrative of adventures in Egypt with a sojourn among the Artists of Rome' which was published in 1849. Bevan may have died in 1876.
