Description
The traditional tools of analysis used by geographers have been supplemented in recent years by new methodological frameworks. As an example of this new thinking Andrew Learmonth, Professor of Geog...raphy at the Open University, introduces the concepts of 'networks' and 'systems'. He provides illustrations which help us distinguish between the two ideas, and in the light of these looks at the Chimbu tribe of New Guinea. He concludes by demonstrating a simple social network for a farmer in Northumberland, and concepts to his own inviting the student to apply these concepts to his own environment.
