It becomes clear that Vasari had great difficulty in accommodating such an individual as Donatello in his scheme, This, Catherine King continues, says much for Vasari's appreciation of such an original and complex artist and reveals the over-simplicity of Vasari's theories. In the course of the programme, many of Donatello's most famous works are examined in detail. They include Judith and Holofernes, the "bronze David and the S.Lorenzo Pulpits.
