Description
Neil Chalmers introduces the programme which will present film showing animal behaviour which is described in the course text. Film shots show an experiment in egg retrieval behaviour of the grey ...lag goose by Conrad Lorenz. Chalmers provides commentary. Chalmers describes super normal stimuli and responses. He then introduces a film sequence on mating behaviour of the three spined stickleback. Film excerpts from "Signals for survival". The film shows mating behaviour of the stickleback and includes several experiments to determine the specific stimuli responsible for particular behavioural manifestations. The film is interspersed with shots of Neil Chalmers who comments on the techniques used. Chalmers introduces a film sequence showing the pecking behaviour of herring gull chicks. Film excerpt from "Signals for survival". It. examines the pecking stimulus in herring gull chicks. Chalmers sums up the experiment, Chalmers introduces a film sequence which shows some aspects of lesser black-backed gull behaviour. Film excerpt from "Signals for survival". It shows response to two simultaneous stimuli in the lesser-black backed gull. A pulling fight between two males and a pulling threat by two more are shown. Chalmers introduces a film sequence on behaviour of Haplochromis. Film excerpt from "Signals for survival". It shows Haplochromis response to the following stimuli. Fight between two males. Male next building. A pair mating. Young nesting in mother's mouth.
