Prof. Elton reviews Charles V's campaign against the League of Schmalkolden and the Protestants. Also included is an assessment of Duke Maurice of Saxony. Charles V's intentions are clearly set out. Prof. Elton discussed the aftermath of Charles V's military victory and the reasons for his failure to halt the Reformation. The events and results of the renewal of the war in 1552 are described. Globe of world shows Charles V's sphere of influence at it's height. Prof. Elton describes the end of Charles V's reign and the peace of Augsburg in 1555. The terms of the latter are outlined.
