Footage description: Opening sequence is clip from "One tenth of our nation" showing conditions of the blacks in the deep south. Original commentary read over. Neil Wynn discusses the preceding film extract and then goes on to show film which illustrates the roles of blacks in the U.S. armed forces at the beginning of American participation in the World War. Neil Wynn adds his comments over. Neil Wynn shows and comments on film of the 1943 Harlem race riots. Shots of Frank Crosswaith. Neil Wynn discusses civilian black morale. Neil Wynn introduces a clip from "Negro colleges in Wartime" which is shown with original commentary. The film shows the types of training given to the blacks taken into the armed services. Neil Wynn adds his comments at the end of the sequence. Neil Wynn now introduces sequences from "Teamwork", a wartime film emphasising the relationship of the races during their military service. Original commentary is read over, Neil Wynn adding his comments. Neil Wynn examines the preceding sequences critically and corrects certain misreprefientations. Segration in the armed forces is discussed and further film illustrating black participation in U.S. war effort is shown. Change in the U.S. Navy in its attitude to coloured members of the crew is discussed and film illustrating the change in attitude shown. Neil Wynn introduces a lengthy sequence from "Welcome to Britain" which deals with the race problem and the form it may take in Britain. General Lee is interviewed by Burgess Meredith. Neil Wynn comments on the sequence. Neil Wynn described the pressures on Truman to intiate reform movements in the U.S.A., and in the U.S. armed forces.
