Footage description: | Barber introduces the programme which will deal with the Community's alcohol policy and pressure groups. Shots of pubs, bottles etc. Gourdon, from the Commission's Wine and Alcohol Division, outlines how a community policy is arrived at. Shots of EEC building in Brussels. Cabot discusses the effects of the proposed policy on British interests. He also looks at how it will effect other interests and he then goes on to describe what contacts he has and how he tries to put across the views of the British industry to the commission, the British government and continental interests. Shots of sugar beet farming, whiskey distilling. Barber interviews two representatives of the European farmers to the alcohol policy. Cacquelin outlines the policy as it stands at present. Hardt explains what contacts the farmers have with various other interest groups. Berthoud from 'The Times' is asked how much pressure groups try to influence him. Shots of council of ministers meeting. Cacouelin and Cabot outline where they think decisions are ultimately taken. |
