Description
Barber introduces the discussion with Dworkin, He outlines the original intentions of the Founding Fathers. Dworkin emphasises the importance of efficiency for determining function, with special re...ference to the courts. Dworkin discusses the relationship between the President and Congress, the executive and legislative branches. They move onto the checks and balances in this structure, and how Watergate and the Nixon administration may affect this. The realtionship between the president and the Supreme Court judges is discussed, as well as the role adopted by the President when military matters are involved. Dworkin examines why Watergate is such a scandal and what lessons may be learnt for the Presidential Function in the future. Barber and Dworkin concentrate on the power of the President, and how he assumes a superpolitical stance once he is elected.
