Footage description: | Shots from a BBC documentary of 1971 about the Hunts. Brooman describes how Hunt had been out of work since 1966. Clips of Hunts at home in Sunderland. Turner interviews the Hunts at their home 1974. Dave Hunt is still out of work. He describes how he lost his job, how he keeps looking etc and how he feels about it. Pat Hunt talks about how she manages financially. Dave Hunt continues by outlining his views on his wife working, whether he would move from the North East, how he fills his time etc. Brooman sums up over shots of Hunt on the dockside. The second subject, John Lockyer, is introduced. His period of unemployment was only a few months. Shots of Lockyer with his family and later of him looking across fields. Brooman questions Lockyer on his feelings about unemployment, his attitude to work, his wife working etc. Brootnan draws out the differences between the two cases and the general lessons that may be learnt. More shots of Hunt on dockside. Brief comment on overtime in periods of unemployment. Credits. |
