Description
This is the second in the series of four devoted to a case study of BART. The programme shows how the final stage of the BART district authority was arrived at and the nature of the public relation...s campaign that sold the idea of BART to the public. Events leading up to the public vote on the scheme are discussed in relation to how they illustrate political power processes in the San Francisco Bay Area. This colour film was shot entirely on location in San Francisco during October 1974. It is presented by Philip Sarre, Lecturer in Geography at the Open University. Appearing in the programme are: Henry Alexander, who ran the press campaign, Bill Stokes, formerly General Manager of BART, Mr. R. Nahas, property developer and critic of BART, Professor James Vance, Professor of Geography at the University of California (Berkeley) also a critic of BART, and David Birenbaum, Attorney for anti-BART litigants.
