Description
What does it mean to be a "professional"? This programme is the second of two films examining aspects of work in the Medical Profession. These two television programmes together with the ...three radio programmes "The profession of medicine"' "A professional hospital setting" and "General practice", and the third Media Book comprise a package of work on the medical profession for the course. This package raises issues dealt with in units 12 and 13 of the course. The film, shot mainly in Shepton Mallet, concentrates on the life and work of a general practitioner. It follows him through a day of consultations, house visits and a ward round at a local hospital for the mentally handicapped and also looks at his family's involvement in the practice.
