Description
This programme was recorded at the church of St Martin-in-the-fields, London, during rehearsal and public performance by the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-fields, directed by Neville Marriner. The p...ieces played are: an adaption of Albinoni's Concerto Saint Marc for solo trumpet, played by the French trumpeter Maurice Andre; the first movement of Bach's Concerto for two violins in D. minor, played by Iona Brown and Carmel Kaine; the opening movement of Bach's Fifth Brandenburg Concerto, with soloists Iona Brown, violin, William Bennett, flute and George Malcolm, harpsichord. In this performance George Malcolm plays the long version, 65 bars, of the virtuoso harpsichord cadenza.
