Description
This film was originally made for the Arts Council by Rodney Wilson and Stephen Cross. It has been included in the course because it shows very well how the art film can be poeticised in a way whic...h augments the attractiveness and meaning of the subject. It relates to unit 3 of the course. Odilon Redon was a contemporary of the Impressionists but he did not share their aims. He is not widely known today but he was greatlv admired during his lifetime by contemporary artists and writers, and his work has been of fundamental importance for twentieth century painting. The commentary on film is taken entirely from Redon's own notebooks.
