Description
Moholy-Nagy was one of the most versatile artists of the twentieth century, but throughout all his work runs a constant concern with the behaviour and representation of light. This programme looks... at the development of his paintings, from his early graphic work to the mature translucent constructions, and explores his continuing interest in photography and film. As well as providing a rare opportunity to see extracts from four of his own films, the programme shows Moholy-Nagy's unused footage from Alexander Korda's film of H.G. Wells' "Things to Come"; it uses Moholy's writings to illuminate and explain his approach, and employs animation techniques to analyse some of the key works. The programme relates to the twelfth unit of the course 'The Bauhaus Experiment'. It is written and introduced by Stephen Bayley, and the extracts from Moholy's writings are read by Sandor Eles.
