Description
Brian Stone briefly sets the scene for Act IV of the play. An extract from the early part of the play is presented, in which Gregors rejects his father and determines on the course of action which ...so tragically unfolds. Gregors, determined to reveal the truth to Hjalmar about the lies on which his marriage is based, sets in motion a chain of tragic events which culminate in the death of Hjalmar's child, Hedvig. The events of the morning of Act V are performed, culminating in Hedvig's death. The style of the production brings out the combination of naturalism and symbolism characteristic of Ibsen's play.
