Description
Two excerpts from Wagner's 'Tristan and Isolde' are discussed and played - the opening bars of the 'Prelude' and the closing bars of the Liebestod. Students are shown how Wagner uses harmonies to a...chieve his effects. The vague tonality and chromatic harmonies of the 'Prelude' are contrasted with the basically simple and diatonic harmonies of the Liebestod. a simplified score of the music is followed while the music is played.
