Description
The programme begins with the Easter precession of the monks and bishops of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. There they declare that "Christ h...as Risen". The bulk of the programme consists of the next morning's -'Easter Monday's - liturgy, the liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. The church in the Patriarchate is crowded with pilgrims from Greece and Cyprus. The theme of the liturgy is "Christ is Risen". We see and hear part of the opening prayers, the procession leading to the Gospel, the procession of the sacred gifts, the celebration of the Eucharist, and the people receiving Communion under the forms of bread and wine, and collecting the blessed bread to take away to their homes.
