Description
This programme begins with some simple illustrations of rigid transformations. Their characteristic geometric properties are investigated in two dimensions and then these properties are related to ...the kinds of matrices (orthagonal) which represent them. In three dimensions the situation is more complicated, but the programme illustrates that the two dimensional ideas can be extended so that finally there are only two types of rigid transformations - proper and improper rotations.
