Description
The programme is in two distinct parts. First, Dr Keith Attenborough presents information that resulted from the surveys carried out and questionnaires filled in by T100 students during 1973 on noi...se and its effects. For instance, his graphs and histograms depict percentages of students disturbed by specified noises, and typical background levels for specified times and places. This sequence is an updated version of that originally broadcast in 1972. In the main part of the programme Professor Geoff Holister and Professor John Beishon examine the problems raised by the motor car in both industry and society, and exemplify the way in which T100 itself has examined these. They introduce clips of tv and radio programmes already broadcast as part of the course, and remind students of pertinent references in the correspondence texts. The teaching message is that T100 has given students the right tools with which to tackle simple technological problems.
