Footage description: Shots of simulation 'victims' being made up to display a variety of wounds. John Naughton in voice over a map of London, introduces the programme. Captain Cousins (Asst. Harbour Master) and John Naughton outline the simulation. Film shots of the simulation getting under way. Commentary by John Naughton. Shots of Wandsworth Bridge, scene of the simulation control point. Naughton, on the bridge, interviews Charles Clisby of the London Fire Brigade. Clisby explains the role of the Fire Brigade in this simulation. Shots of interior of the Mobile Control Unit. Clisby goes on to introduce a communications problem into the simulation. Film shots of 'victims' being transferred from a river launch to an ambulance and taken to hospital. John Naughton interviews Dr. Laurence Martin (St. Stephen's Hospital, Fulham). Over shots of 'victims' being treated, Dr. Martin explains how St. Stephen's Hospital went about its part in the disaster simulation. He points out also the problems this caused for the normal routine of the hospital. Film shots of a 'victim' being examined by doctor at St. Stephen's. Dr. Martin points out, to his staff, mistakes which have been made in the handling of 'victims' at the hospital. More shots of 'casualties' at the scene of the accident. As part of the exercise, rescuers simulate the use of cutting equipment to free a man trapped on one of the boats. Naughton interviews Captain Cousins again who sums up by pointing out some of the problems which were brought out by the simulation. Dr. Martin then sums up by stating the value of such exercises to his hospital. The programme finishes with a clip from a BBC news programme announcing the bomb explosion at Walton's Restaurant, Chelsea. Naughton points out that St. Stephen's was the designated hospital for this disaster.
