Footage description: Tony Roisman,a lawyer with the Natural Resource Defence Council, introduces the programme by pointing out the bias of the Nuclear Regulator Commission. Over aerial shots of Seabrook and surrounds, Alan Dobie gives the background of the opposition to the proposed nuclear plant. Shots of the May, 1977 demonstration getting underway and of newspaper headlines describing events. Sukie Rice, a Clamshell spokesperson and Alan Dobie (v/o) explain the non-violent tactics which were planned for the demonstration. They point out, particularly, the training given to demonstrators before the site occupation. Film of training exercises. Over shots of the Seabrook site, Buddy Jenkins (Governor's Press Secretary) lists the arrangements which have been made to counter the demonstration. Film of a Clamshell Alliance press conference on the Seabrook village green. Over an animated map of the Seabrook area, Alan Dobie outlines the strategy used by the demonstrators to occupy the site. Over shots of the demonstration getting under way, sound of a local radio station reporting the demonstration as it develops. Shots of individual demonstrators giving their views of the demonstration. More shots of the demonstrators, this time occupying the site of the proposed nuclear plant. Alan Dobie (v/o) and Anna Gyorgy discuss the plans of the demonstrators once the site was occupied. Shots of Governor Thomson arriving at Seabrook and talking to the demonstrators. Film of the demonstration being broken up, with mass arrests, by the state police. Commentary over film consists of a local radio station news report. Film of the arrested demonstrators being taken from the site in buses. Commentary by Dobie gives details of the arrests. Governor Thomson, in his office, explains why he called on the state police to break up the demonstration and arrest the demonstrators. Film of arrested demonstrators in one of several National Guard drill halls which were used to house them. Film shows demonstrators being fed. Commentary by Dobie and by a Clamshell spokesperson explains why the demonstrators refused to pay bail and be released. More shots of demonstrators in the drill hall. Alan Dobie (v/o) and Sukie Rice point out the benefits, for the demonstrators, of the mass arrests and detention. Governor Thomson justifies his action of strongly opposing the demonstration. Tony Roisman briefly gives his view of the governors action. Alan Dobie, voice over film of the New Hampshire state capitol, of Seabrook and of the demonstration sums up the programme.
