Description
The accumulation of steel in urban areas has led to the recent development of the mini mill. This relies on the use of an electric arc furnace to melt down scrap and refining it into billet steel. ...The programme considers the normal cycle of steel production via the basic bulk oxygen furnace and sees how the mini mill fits into this cycle by producing usable steel from scrap. As a natural progression theprogramme finally considers the new technique of direct reduction of iron oxide into iron amd analyses the practical and economic necessities for this move.
