By comparing the uses of three forms of space heating made by three families,... and relating this to the fabric of the house, David Walker examines the underlying attitudes to technology held by the families. One family attempts self-sufficiency In food and energy, while continuing to practice as architects. The second live a more conventional life on a suburban estate, and have extended their home at little or no extra space heating costs. The third continue to live in a sixties designed town house, with a rather more opulent life style.
