Footage description: | Shots of boys testing model garage doors. Marshall introduces the programme about the structured course. He outlines how the course progresses, and the individual elements in it. The first element concerns structures. 2 pupils discuss with Lord the various structures - such as towers and bridges - they had to build. Lord shows how the course develops through assignments, follow ups etc. Shots of the various structures being tested. The second element concerns gears. Madders asks 2 pupils to identify various gears and the jobs they perform. Madders continues by looking at the third element - basic electricity. A pupil outlines some of the assignments he has done. Shots of various circuits. Marshall explains how these 3 units are linked through a project to build a model vehicle. Lord looks at a model under construction and discusses various aspects of it with the pupils concerned. Lord continues by asking them about what they did for assignment 1. He asks them how they would slow down the speed of the vehicle. To see whether the pupils have done assignment 2, Lord asks them to assemble a reversing circuit. He advises them on how to continue. Lord talks to 2 other pupils on their model vehicle which is completely different from the others. Marshall sums up on the benefits of a well structured course. Credits with shots of other complicated models made by the pupils. |
