Description
This film was originally made in 1971 and concerns two girls in the 6th form of a London comprehensive school. In the film they describe their relationships with other people and their thoughts abo...ut "who they are" and how they envisage their lives developing. These thoughts are set against the background of the various activities inside and outside of school in which they engage. There is a radio programme which follows this film in which Margaret and Christine reflect on what they said at that time, and what has happened to them since that time.

| Footage description: | The programme opens with film of Christine and Margaret on their way to school. In voice over, Lee comments on the idea of a self concept, and the two girls give their opinions of themselves. Shots of the girls in class and at private study. In voice-over they both consider themselves in the school environment. From their homes, Margaret and Christine expand on attitudes to schoolwork and to other people. Margaret describes her religious beliefs. Over shots of her playing the guitar and walking in a park, she explains how she attempts to achieve a balance in her life. She also describes her attitude to sport, over shots of herself playing squash. Over shots of herself riding and with friends in a pub, Christine describes her relationship with friends. Over shots of Christine and Margaret at a market together, their parents and teachers give their views of the two girls. |
