Description
In the development of the new city of Milton Keynes some fresh concepts in educational provision have emerged. Of interest is the Stant:nbury Campus. At the time the film was made the resource cent...re that is to be central to three schcols on the campus was being used by the first school Bridgewater Hall, as its premises. The film focuses on the curricular and organisational innovations the new school under its director Geoffrey Cooksey, has introduced. It touches on the concepts of shared time, which is interdisciplinary in nature and allows for different-sized groups of pupils to be taught; "Day Ten"; which frees every second Friday from timetable constraint to allow pupils to follow activities of their own choice from a wide selection of provided alternatives; the "faculty" structure in which academic and examination requirements are met; and the way in which the school and the campus propose to serve as a centre of the community as well as fulfilling the traditional role of the school. The film forms part of a larger case study which includes a folder of related printed materials.
