Footage description: | Over opening shots of a careers lesson at Hastingsbury School, Maybin introduces the programme. She outlines points to look for in the first sequence, in which a teacher helps fifth-formers devise a multi-purpose job application form. Items for inclusion in an application are listed on a blackboard and are discussed. Shots of the school's careers Library, which Maybin describes briefly in voice-over. The camera observes pupils using an index of careers on their own. Programme caption: "Sequence 2". The group from the careers lesson are now seen with another teacher. They discuss their recent visit to a large local supermarket, and compare this experience to the information given in the first's recruitment leaflet. Caption: "Sequence 3" In voice-over Maybin introduces the final sequence in which a class of 13 years olds are collating and classifying the results of a questionnaire survey of careers that they have carried out in their local area. The teacher uses information on job qualifications provided by the questionnaire to help pupils decide which subjects to continue with at school. |
