Description
The programme consists of a shortened version of Alfred Jarry's play as was first produced in Paris in 1896. This is the first television production of this play which acheived some notoriety from ...Jarry's use of the now famous neologism 'merdre'. The production uses puppets as well as actors, and has an original music score written for electric organ. This version of the play omits the sub-plot concerning the Tsar, and considerably reduces the battle scenes.
