Description
Jerusalem is a city of churches, mosques, synagogues and shrines, and the institutional offices of many religions. But it is in the home, especially, that religious behaviour is taught and learnt. ...The programme visits three families who live within a mile of each other in Jerusalem one Jewish, one Christian and one Muslim and observes the devotions practised in the home. Each family talks briefly about what their religion means to them.

Over this Thompson comments on the diversity of Jerusalem's religious life and argues that each religion shapes the family life of its adherents. Descriptive commentary from Thompson overfilm of Mr Daaboul, who is a Roman Catholic, participating in the ceremony of the Stations of the Cross. In interview Mr Daaboul sketches his family's background and explains what Catholicism means to him and his wife. Shots of the family's meal. Film of Mr Dakkak, who is a Muslim, going to his mosque. Thompson introduces him in voiceover. After a brief comment from his youngest son Mr Dakkak gives his views on the Muslim religion. Film of him performing his ablutions and praying. His youngest son describes the rituals associated with Ramadam and his daughter describes the family role of a Muslim wife. Final comment from Mr Dakkak. Views of Jerusalem.
