Description
In this programme Colin Chant explains the technology of cast and wrought iron manufacture, and Neil Cossons, formerly of Ironbridge Museum Trust, describes how bridge builders used these materials.... Castling was filmed in Eastern Pennsylvania - where an early charcoal blast furnace survives. The programme also includes a sequence on puddling iron at Bolton. Examples of bridges throughout the UK were used to demonstrate the construction principles.
