Description
This programme looks at three Victorian villages, Old Warden and Steppingley in Bedfordshire, and Wortham in Suffolk. The Bedfordshire villages are the product of improvements made by wealthy lando...wners and represent increased control by the landowner and reveals a diversity of rural occupations in a setting of modest wealth and poverty. Drawings by the Reverend Cobbold of the people and village of Wortham are used together with historical research to reconstruct the village.
