This programme charts the uneven development of Blackpool through the 19th century, from a small genteel town in to the first and largest resort for the industrial working class. With the advent of... railway came day trippers, and the initial social segregation of the middle and working classes, with sepearte piers, entertainment and accommodation, and the explosion of popular seaside culture.
