Description
The initial success of the Athenian Empire was founded on the surplus revenue from the silver mines of the Laurion area. But how do archaeologists go about testing such an idea? Colin Cunningham us...es excavations at the Soureza site in Southern Attica to reconstruct the mining processes, and excavations at the Agora in Athens to assess to contribution of silver mining to the creation of Imperial Athens.
