Description
After a brief introduction to the range of George Fenton's work, he discusses with Trevor Herbert his introduction to the processes of composition. At the piano he plays a simple a simple tune, wri...tten specifically for this programme, which he then harmonises with the three primary triads. He then plays several variations on the basic tune and harmony to show how different effects and moods can be evoked by small changes in the rhythm or harmony. In the final sequences those variations in mood are further explored by using synthesisers to change the timbre of the original tune and the variations.
