Description
This programme looks at music that does not stem from standard European notation systems. Raga music uses no notation system while jazz can use anything from no system to a complete musical score. ...Modern technology enables a musician to compose music using no scoring but which can be notated afterwards if required. Viram Jasani talks about Indian raga music and plays sitar with rythm accompaniment. Michael Garrick and Jack Dankworth talk about jazz composition, playing and improvisation, and feature in a quartet with Dave Green and Alan Jackson. Paul Hardcastle uses state of the art technology to comos and produce music. He talks through his approach to music and demonstrates the technology that he uses to create his compositions.
