Description
This programme examines the ruins of the Earl of Stratford's enormous construction, Jigginstown in Ireland, as well as building work done by the Earl of Pembroke at Wilton, Nicholas Fouquet at Vaux...-le-Vicomte, the Earl of Montagu at Boughton House and the Earl of Nottingham at Burley on the Hill. The programme shows that even in an a ruined state, house can reveal a surprising amount about the political power and ambition of their builders.
