Description
This programme explores the problematic relationship between event, text and performance in Shakespeare's Henry V. The programme also focusses on the way war, and images of war, are presented on st...age and on film, and is in five main sections: the background and influences og Olivier's film HenryV; re-enacting the battle of Agincourt in the present day; likely expectations and experiences of an audience in 1600; difficulties experienced in staging Henry V from 1600 into the twentieth century; the story of Shakespearean reconstruction in the present - including the new Globe Theatre and a workshop on Shakespearean battles.
