Description
This programme is a study of investment appraisal. This is done by looking at two breweries - Carlsberg and Penrhos - very different in size and complexity, who have decided to invest in additional... production capacity. For each company the decision to invest meant taking a calculated risk, even though the sums of money involved are very different. The programme expands on how they conduct their investment appraisal. The academic consultant and presenter is Andy Pollard, an economics lecturer at the Open University. The managing Director of Carlsberg UK Michael Iuul, and the Managing Director of Penrhos, Martin Griffiths, discuss the investment plans each have for their companies. Different aspects of investment appraisal are discussed by Paul Buchanan Barrow, Assistant Director, County Bank; Tony Hope, Senior Lecturer Accounting, Manchester University and Leonard Kingshott, Executive Director, Lloyds Bank International.
