Description
In this programme, Ian Hume and Steve Murgatroyd, both of The Open University, consider the investigation of social identity from two different sociological perspectives. They take as an example th...e village of Rhosllanerchrugog in Wales and examine its identity through the process of interview. In the first part of the programme, a local choir is identified and some of its members interviewed on the basis of their close association with the cultural life of the community. Following this two incomers into the community provide a contrasting perception of village identity.
