Description
This is the second programme in a series of eight and, like all the others, is divided into three case studies filmed on location in the cities of Vancouver, British Columbia; Cracow, Poland and Bi...rmingham, U.K. The theme of this programme is the historical legacy of the three cities and features, in the case of Birmingham, the history of the Birmingham Small Arms Company. In Vancouver it looks at the historical importance of the Canadian Pacific Railway and its residual influence on the shape of the city. In Cracow, it examines its development from medieval times and in particular its importance as a commercial entrepôt on European trade routes. We visit Birmingham again in 1985 and Allan Cochrane comments on the changes which have taken place in the last five years.
