Professor Pepper Schwartz, author of the definitive book on relationships, "American Couples", interviews two couples, one gay and one lesbian, to illustrate some of the research finding...s in her book. The programme also includes extracts from video diaries made by each couple over a three month period. The aim is to explore what happens in relationships ungoverned by gender stereotypes and to consider how each relationship developed within its own social network.
