Description
This programme takes the form of a specially written play by Farrukh Dhondy. It is set in a multi-racial school and raises questions about racial and cultural pluralism, particularly with regard t...o West Indian pupils. Vance, suspended, from another school is taken on four weeks probation into the fifth year against the headmaster's better judgement. Maids captain of the basketball team in this white teachers black pupils school, finds his authority being challenged. The girl, Carlene, transfers to Vance. Things fall apart, money disappears. With the staff room divided the headmaster kills two birds with one stone; cancels the basketball tour and edges out Vanes. Maids acts honourably throughout but loses both friends and influence.
