Footage description: Over a still of this fictional family of four Leavers introduces us to them and sets the scene for the first family conflict that we are to examine. A row between the children, and the mother's handling of it, is observed in three short takes to develop in three different ways. Leavers comments briefly at the end of each episode. Likewise, the father's handling of a dispute between the children in the course of a game is seen three times. Each time the father's behaviour produces a different response from the children. Leavers introduces in voice-over the next situation, in which the difficult behaviour of the boy produces a row between the parents in which he is forgotten. Again we see three different results each time the episode is acted out. The final controversy arises out of the family's attempts to plan a day out together. Three episodes are seen, and in the third the proper consultation of the children by the parents is shown to produce the most harmonious outcome.
