Description
The programme uses the situation of a disabled person (a wheelchair user who has rheumatoid arthritis) preparing for an interview for a job to illustrate some of the difficulties encountered in '...negotiating' the environment. The interviewer is also disabled, and a wheelchair user, and his ability to control the environment and thereby reduce his level of handicap, is contrasted with the interviewee's difficulties and late arrival at the appointment. Some of the factors which make the interviewer's 'easier start to the day' possible are explored, and an ergonomist discusses the dynamic relationship which exists between a person, the environment and his or her needs. The programme is narrated by Ann Pointon.
