The programme looks at some of the experiences or people involved in the Outward Housing Scheme, a project initiated by parents from the Waltham Forest local MENCAP branch to provide ordinary housi...ng in the Borough for mentally handicapped people. The interviews include contributions from tenants, voluntary workers from MENCAP and professional workers from the Social Services Department. Alan Tyne, of the Community Mental Health Educational Research Association, discusses the rights of mentally handicapped people to live fully within the community. The programme is narrated by Christopher Leaver.
