Description
The International Monetary Fund has been, since it was set up in 1944, one of the most important institutions in the world of international finance. This film explores some conflicting perceptions ...of the I.M.F. and its role in development from the original Bretton Woods Conference to the present day. Participants include Michael Manley, ex-Prime Minister of Jamaica who is one of the Fund's strongest critics, Mr. Aziz Ali Mohammed, a spokesman for the Fund in Washington, Robert Slighton of the Chase Manhattan Bank and two observers of the Fund's activities: Ms. Chandra Hardy of the World Bank and Sidney Dell of the U.N. Center on Transnational Corporations.
