Description
Archive material is used to explain the 'sliding filament model' which was proposed in the 1950s.However despite 30 years of research the mechanism of how filament sliding is brought about remains ...unclear. The programme goes on to examine the optical microscopy techniques being used by Professor Maynard Dewey in the study of muscle from the horseshoe crab, Limulus. The second half of the programme looks at X ray diffraction techniques being used at Daresbury, near Manchester. We see pictures of both rabbit and Limulus muscle.
