Description
This programme was filmed at the Chihuahuan Desert field station at Mapimi in Northern Mexico in collaboration with members of the Instutute of Ecology (Mexico). It shows the main features of the d...esert environment and shows examples of the survival strategies adopted by local plants and animals. Ecologists are seen working in the field and in the laboratory on several animals including small rodents, lizards, grasshoppers and the nedemic giant Boston tortoise, Gophesus flavomarginatus, which is unique to this small area and is on the endangered list of world animals.
