Whales can dive to a depth of up to 2,000 metres, nearly one and a half miles, and they can stay down on a single breath for over an hour. This programme looks at research into just how nature solv...es the problem of diving so deeply. Most of the programme was shot on location in the Azores and features field research in that area, the summer haunt of the Sperm whale.
